Wire Bonding

Definition

Cell interconnection method using multiple small-diameter aluminum or copper wires ultrasonically welded to cell terminals. Provides flexible, low-stress connection.

Why It Matters

  • EVolve's core technology for MonoLith products
  • Excellent vibration tolerance compared to rigid bus bars
  • Allows thermal expansion without stress on cells
  • Redundant connections improve reliability

Common Pitfalls

  • Not designed for field disassembly or repair
  • Requires specialized equipment and expertise
  • Bond quality depends on surface preparation
  • Not suitable for all cell formats (works best with cylindrical)
