10–20 kWh Battery Packs

Multi-hour endurance for light vehicles and marine APU

The 10–20 kWh band is where mission endurance meets practicality. At 15 kWh average, a MonoLith pack delivers 60–90 minutes of full operational use on a light UGV, 2–3 hours of effective range on a neighborhood EV, or day-long auxiliary power for marine hybrid propulsion. This is the natural fit for platforms that must traverse multiple kilometers or manage sustained medium-power loads. The engineering challenge here is not raw current delivery—these packs easily handle 300+ A peaks—but thermal stability under variable duty cycles. MonoLith 10–20 kWh packs solve this with advanced passive thermal routing and modular internal architecture that distributes load across parallel branches.

Regional Mission Profiles and Multi-Hour Endurance

The 10–20 kWh sweet spot covers most military scout missions, civilian drone-of-drones platforms, and electric light commercial vehicles. At 15 kWh with 100 kW average draw, a platform achieves 90 minutes of effective operational time—enough for a full reconnaissance circuit, chemical/biological survey of a compound, or a coastal patrol segment without mid-mission recharging.

For marine applications, this band is the dominant choice for hybrid auxiliary power units (APU) on supply vessels and patrol boats. A 15 kWh pack can power hotel loads (HVAC, radar, communications) for 4–6 hours, or provide surge power for bow thrusters during tight maneuvering. The 10–20 kWh band bridges the gap between short-burst robotics and all-day maritime platforms.

Thermal Stability Under Variable Load Cycling

Unlike the high-power 5 kWh band which sees intense but brief current spikes, the 10–20 kWh band faces longer thermal duty cycles. A typical 15 kWh pack might see 40 kW for 30 minutes, drop to 20 kW for 20 minutes, spike to 150 kW for 90 seconds, then return to idle. This variable profile demands thermal management that absorbs peak transients while rejecting continuous low-power heat.

MonoLith 10–20 kWh packs use hybrid thermal routing: active cell-level fusing via wire bonds handles short spikes, while the enclosure distributes steady-state heat to mounting surfaces. Aluminum and copper frame options are available; copper enclosures are favored for marine and defense platforms where thermal dissipation directly into hull or vehicle structure is possible.

Voltage Flexibility from 28.8 V to 547.2 V

Energy range spans 10.01–19.99 kWh with voltage options from 28.8 V (48V-compatible robotics and marine APU) to 547.2 V (high-voltage EV platforms and defense systems). This span means a single band can serve both low-voltage, high-current platforms (winches, thrusters) and high-voltage traction inverters (EV motor controllers).

Modular series-parallel architecture lets integrators mix voltage and capacity within a single enclosure footprint. A 15 kWh pack might be 96 cells in series (307.2 V nominal) with dual parallel branches, or 48 cells in series (153.6 V) with quad parallel branches—same pack, different application.
